About this guide
Hi, I'm Sara. This is the little book I wish someone had handed me when I started stitching: everything you need to go from "what's 14 count?" to a finished hoop on your wall, in plain words and one friendly place.
We start with supplies (aida vs evenweave vs linen, fabric counts, needles, floss and strands), then prepare your fabric, thread up without knots, and learn every stitch you'll meet in a pattern: full cross, half, quarter and three-quarter, backstitch, French knots and long stitches. Every one has its own step-by-step vector diagram with numbered holes, so you always know where the needle goes up and where it goes down.
Then we read a real chart together (symbols, keys, grid lines, center arrows, Pattern Keeper and other digital tools), compare the English and Danish methods, try parking and railroading, keep the back of our work tidy, fix the usual mistakes, and wash, press and finish our pieces. There's a chapter on stitching with kids from the mom side of me, a glossary of stitcher words, and a free Hello Heart starter pattern that practises full crosses, backstitch and French knots.
It's a PDF in both US Letter and A4, with a clickable contents page and bookmarks, so it's as happy on your tablet as it is printed and tucked in your project bag.
